Hi, I’m Ranga Shah,

Founder of Soft Strength Mind Body Approaches for Health and Healing.

I’m a Specialist Physiotherapist in Persistent Pain, a Yoga and Mindfulness Teacher and a Somatic Coach in training.

I began this life in a loving but busy British Indian household where it felt like doing and achieving were the way to be loved. As a shy, sensitive and self-doubting kid, this wasn’t easy. I tended to self-comparison, outward validation seeking and lacked self-trust.

I know first-hand what it’s like to override what you feel in favour of others’ opinions or to be so locked into thoughts that you feel disconnected from yourself. I know what it’s like to try and do all the things and struggle to take downtime; I know what it’s like to have pain that’s more there than not.

As I come home to myself I can find my own wisdom and care for myself.

Through introspection, eastern wisdom and mind-body practices I gradually learned to be more self-honest and kind, I ventured deeper in self-understanding to discover what was truly important to me.

Yoga, Spirituality, Mantra voice-work, Mindfulness and Somatic Therapies have all been instrumental on my journey of growth and healing, helping me to discover practices that release me from overthinking into embodied presence.

As I come home to myself I can find my own wisdom and care for myself. These disciplines and modalities continue to be my way to move through difficult experiences and process life in a healthy way.

Soft Strength was born

On a personal level my career as a physiotherapist felt unfulfilling until I found yoga and realised that effectively helping people required a holistic approach, one that accessed both body and mind.

Soft Strength was born from a desire to make potent mind-body approaches accessible and effective for those struggling to self-care and developing pain, fatigue, stress or a diagnosed chronic illness.

I believe that we’d live in a happier world if we could find the balance between effort and ease, between giving and receiving, between control and surrender, between activity and rest, between softness and strength.

As we start to tune in and turn towards the inner landscape of our body and mind, we find a wealth of information.
We discover our inner workings.

When we discover what pushes and pulls us in life, we can make conscious choices.  We can choose positive lifestyle habits that support us to be our best selves. Our life becomes proactive rather than reactive.

Working with chronic pain and other long-term conditions for 15yrs has shown me just how effective mind-body practices are for empowering individuals to greater ease, freedom and quality of life.
